Famille Rose Chinese export porcelain charger c1850 to 1860

Very large Famille Rose Chinese export porcelain charger c1850 to 1860. Extraordinary detail, superbly painted. This is one of the finest pieces of antique Famille Rose Medallion that we have ever offered. The charger is 19 inches across by 3 and one quarter inches high. Each of its 6 medallions is framed by dragons and bats carrying scrolls. Three are scenes of court ladies at leisure. Three are studies of birds and butterflies amid branches of peonies and fruits, including citrus, persimmons and pomegranites. The center roundel features a giant fungus. There is a faint old star fracture at center underside, probably incurred at firing. Strong ring tone when tapped. No chips.

Period Antique American Federal Sideboard

Period Antique American Federal Sideboard, this Period American "Hepplewhite sideboard" dates from the late 18th to very early 19 century and is a rare size at 54 inches wide and 24 inches deep and 39 and three quarter inches high. This sideboard is in mint condition with an old warm finish. There is a fine line inlay down its long tapered legs and inset inlay around the edge of its single board mahogany top. Constructed from mahogany, secondary wood is pine set with hand made rose head nails and the drawers have wide hand cut dovetails and thick hand chamfered drawer bottoms. The hardware has been replace with good period reproductions which is quite normal. This is the first sideboard this size we have been able to offer for sale in our 30 years of selling fine period antiques. Just in from at Connecticut estate.

Early Spanish walnut dining table 1630 to 1680

Early Spanish Hispanic Furniture. This 17th century antique "Catalan walnut dining table" is in excellent condition with just a few minor repairs done during its 300 year lifespan. First quarter of the 17th century. This early antique Catalan table was made from solid walnut. The original top is amazing single walnut board. The original iron braces end in hand forged leaves. The legs have wonderful hand carved decorative detail. This is a very rare piece of Spanish furniture. This table measures 55 inches long by 33 and three quarter inches deep and 32 and one quarter inches high. The top is an astounding two inches thick and the leg supports have huge floating dovetails that go all across the underside. This dovetailed joint has kept the top perfectly flat over 3 centuries.

Hunzinger ebonized platform rocker with rare fabric over brass c1870

Hunzinger ebonized platform rocker with back and seat of rare fabric over brass, c1870. Hunzinger produced and patented his fabric wrapped brass to replace cane. Just after the Civil War, cane was scarce, and Hunzinger wanted something that would last forever. This could be one of the rarest, if not the rarest, examples of Hunzinger furniture because the rocker has a combination of hand painting and inlay. Stamped Hunzinger on the back rail. Pat. April 18th 1876. Excellent original condition. Measures 38 and one half inches to the top of the back, 19 inches deep, 21 inches wide and 17 inches to the top of its seat. There is a settee in the Metropolitan Museum of Art with this type of fabric over over brass weaving. It is the only known piece of inlaid hunzinger.

Period Antique German Ships model

Period Antique German Ships model, this "antique ship model" was handmade in Germany around 1840. Fully rigged with hand made rope and each plank was individually made and attached with handmade brass pins. This is a large ships model. It measures 42 and one half inches high by 57 and one inches wide by 10 inches deep. This is with out a doubt one of the finest and most well detailed ships models we have ever handled. This is an excellent example of advanced maritime ship model work.
