- - - - - - - - | Antique French ormolu gooseneck recamier Item # 3581 Click HERE to inquire about this item Antique French ormolu gooseneck recamier, This wonderful Antique French furniture piece is called a "Recamier" and dates from the middle to late 19th century. All the bronze pieces are covered with ormolu. Excellent castings and condition. This "French Recamier" was obviously made by a master craftsman. This antique French recamier measures 28 inches deep, is 36 inches at the highest point. The eagle feet measure 14 inches. From the floor to the top cushion measures 26 inches high and measures 19 and one half inches high to the top of the bottom cushion. The shorter side measures 26 and one half inches high and this antique French day bed measures 74 and one half inches long overall.

This Jon Schueler painting measures 75 inches wide by 78 and one half inches high. Born 1916, died 1992..Just in from the Dun and Bradstreet Art Collection This painting was commissioned by Dun and Bradstreet for it's corporate office and was painted in Chester CT in 1968. See Who Was Who in American Art page 2941 where there is huge biography on the artist.There has just been a book published about Jon Schueler and his work entitled "The Sound of Sleat" edited by Magda Salvesen and Diane Cusineau published by Picador New York. It mentions Schueler in Mallaig Vaig,Chester CT and his connection with Elise (whos home he stayed at while he painted this painting). Jon Schueler was taught by Clyfford Still and Willem de Kooning. See Who Was Who in American Art page 2941 where there is huge biography on the artist. Jon Schueler was one of the best artists of his day. He exhibited at the major galleries, hung out with the important collectors,dealers in New York City and was a very important part of the Abstract expressionist movement that took place in New York in the 1950 to 1960 period and had many exhibitions at the countries premier galleries of the day. This painting is amazing because depending on the type and amount of light in the room and time of day the moon subtlely comes and goes.

- - - - - - | Louis XVI Style French Giltwood Console Table Item # 1933 Click HERE to inquire about this item Louis XVI Style Giltwood Console Table Circa 1880 This table has a D-shaped marble top, above a conforming frieze. It is ornamented at the round ends with fluting. The central shaped panel is centered by a scrolled leaf ornament and accented with scrolled leaves and branches. The square molded legs are scrolled at the tops with leaf and flower carving. They are joined by curved stretchers centered by a husk-draped classical urn,and supported on gadrooned toes. It measures 43 inches high by 78 inches wide by 20 inches deep. This piece was originally sold at Sothebys in New York City.
